For several months now we’ve been working behind the scenes on the new Carmen House Christian Study Center website, and it is now live! And with our new website we are able to house information about our long awaited inaugural program. We are calling it our Winter Symposium.
On Feb. 6th and 7th, we are hosting a widely known guest speaker (and Buckeye fan!) Curt Thompson, MD. Curt is a psychiatrist, author, speaker, and podcaster. It is safe to say that he is considered an expert on the integration of recent learnings in neuroscience with the Christian faith. His writing and his teaching have touched many lives all around the world, pointing them to the love of God in Jesus Christ. Carmen House is partnering with several Christian campus ministries as well as The Veritas Forum.
Many people on campus tend to be too distracted by study and work to ponder big questions. In light of our desire to show hospitality to others that see the world differently while promoting engaging conversations, we are glad to host Curt alongside a physician from Ohio State’s College of Medicine named Dr. Asma Mobin-Uddin. Our hope is that many students and faculty at Ohio State’s campus would have thought-provoking, and even life-changing discussions.
Just the Beginning
Keep a look out for more programming in the coming months, as we make plans to pursue our own dedicated space for Christian Study on the doorstep of Ohio State.
Additional updates:
Carmen House now has a private office space and access to an event venue for programs, in a co-working space in the Ohio State South Campus Gateway.
I (Aaron) have recently become a (very) part-time lecturer at OSU in the GenEd Bookends program, teaching a class for first-year students about how they might approach their studies at Ohio State with their holistic personal growth in mind. I am so grateful for the opportunity to enter into the faculty side of the university and all that this brings, including a unique opportunity to invest in students’ lives in the classroom.
Carmen House Christian Study Center has solidified a board of directors and we hope to grow the board, and our networks of faculty and beyond, as we await 501c3 tax-exempt status from the federal level. To support our work in the meantime you are welcome to donate here:
Congrats, Aaron! Great to see
